Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Design

Ballroom C   Level 3

It’s not always easy to work with other people, especially when they are trained in a discipline other than your own, but it can be so valuable for your future in the workforce. Find out how you can collaborate more effectively at this session with Frank Baseman. Frank will present several case studies from his Design Workshop course involving students working on complex, semester-long, collaborative, interdisciplinary team-based projects.

In today’s ever-competitive design marketplace, employers are increasingly looking for skill sets including—among other things— “an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others” and “experience working in interdisciplinary teams.” Frank will discuss what he has learned (and is still learning) and some of the trials and tribulations he has encountered along the way.

3 Main Take-Aways:

  1. The keys to healthy collaboration
  2. The value of interdisciplinary partnerships
  3. Real-world case studies
