Being a Sponge Doesn’t Suck

Ballroom B   Level 3

Learn to embrace your unique interests and channel them into your work with a passion, in this lively session with J.J. Sedelmaier.

If you’re an artist or creative type, you’re probably influenced by a multitude of things. Whether you realize it or not, you use these influences and interests in the work you produce. It’s important to develop your innate tendency to be curious and investigative.

This presentation will show how J.J. has dovetailed his varied (and yes, “geeky”) interests into the work he produces. He will be screening/showing project examples and discussing how he enthusiastically invites curiosity and how this often results in fresh ideas and approaches to the work he produces.

3 Main Take-Aways:

  1. Identify your influences and understand the ways in which they inform your work.
  2. Learn to cultivate curiosity and how to effectively channel it.
  3. Be inspired by real-world examples; leave more attuned to your unique artistic voice.
