Auditorium Level 2In this session with Bob Gill you’ll learn to adjust your perception as a designer and push through the barrier between what the culture-at-large encourages designers to pursue in the name of trend—and to emerge instead to a place of truly original work.
Imagine a mathematician who knows that the answer is 128, before he knows what the problem is. If you’re drawing in a particular style or applying the latest graphic tricks to the job, you may be similarly putting the cart before the horse.
Sometimes, as designers, we can be unduly influenced by a cultural brainwash that feeds us preconceptions of what is “hot” and “trendy.” Designers fail in the pursuit of dynamic, creative work when time and talent are squandered in attempts to emulate what “edgy” work is supposed to look like.
If we want to begin every day by doing original work and having an exciting creative experience, how can we rely on what the culture tells us, when it tells all of us the same thing? Find out in this session with Bob Gill.
